September 29, 2017What is Peace Day?
International Day of Peace is an important day for everyone around the globe and is very special to us CISVers. It was established as a day dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations vote. Every year, on this day, people get together to celebrate peace. Everyone can participate in Peace Day and raise the profile of the need for peace. From soccer games to social justice, activities are run globally, each with their own important impact.
When is Peace Day?
21 September
How can I help?
The 2017 Peace Day Working Group is hoping to inspire you to contribute to peace this year. We have set up a series of challenges for you to do in the days leading up to the International Peace Day (September 21st). Every day, starting September 12th, a new challenge will be posted here. Simple tasks that can be done easily during your day. Check back daily for the challenges!
We will start off with a postcard challenge to spread the word about peace day, so get your pens ready!
Why should I participate?
Peace is a group effort.
These challenges may be small actions that affect a small area, however, when everyone participates we can effect change and peace on a global scale. Actions are very important when it comes to building global friendship. Little daily actions can cause a large effect, remember the mosquito tactics!
If you think you are too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.

The Peace Day Working Group hopes you feel inspired to help spread peace and do these challenges with us this September! Good luck with the challenges!
